MBSR Anytime is a self-paced online program facilitated by two fully certified MBSR teachers. This program intends to offer the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program with fidelity to the original one. It also offers the opportunity for people who can not or are not ready to commit to a specific day and time to engage in the full program according to their personal schedule.

What is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)?



Mindfulness is a capacity that we all have. It is that essential quality of open awareness that allows us to bring ourselves fully into moments of transcendent experience. Perhaps you have felt this in nature, or in music, or gazing at a newborn child. Mindfulness feels magical at those times, being fully present in mind, body and heart feels very powerful. Mindfulness can be cultivated, practiced and brought on line so that we can gain clarity, wisdom and understanding in all aspects of our daily lives. This has been long known in the wisdom traditions, with centuries of study and practice including meditation and yoga offering tools and methods for learning.
The science behind the practice of mindfulness has now been studied for decades and its value in improving wellness and relieving stress related symptoms well documented in hundreds of peer reviewed research articles. In 1979, Jon Kabat-Zinn developed a systematic intensive in person eight-week training program for mainstream use as a support for patients with chronic pain and other chronic illnesses at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, or MBSR, was soon found to help participants manage chronic pain, reduce symptoms of depression, identify and reduce anxiety symptoms, and reduce stress and its consequences. As Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was used in other populations, it was shown to bring a wide range of benefits, including to healthy individuals seeking improvement in wellbeing and stress coping.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is a specific and structured program, taught by certified MBSR teachers who have undergone rigorous training and the certification process, as well as practice mindfulness themselves on an ongoing basis. Due to the needs of our modern society, the original in person program expanded to live online classes.  
Our world has changed dramatically since 1979, the need for effective coping strategies for living well despite escalating daily stress even more pressing since then. Access to traditional MBSR programs is not possible for everyone, either because of time constraints, scheduling, location, or personal challenges.
